Our emergency and critical care unit offers

  • Fully equipped in-house laboratory analysis – clotting times, chemistries, CBC, blood gases, spinal fluid and joint analysis and much more
  • Snap and other rapid testing for many diseases and certain toxicities
  • Fluid therapy including syringe pump drug management, replacement fluids such as vet starch
  • Blood products, transfusion: plasma, packed cell, whole blood products, with our own blood donors screened for this purpose
  • Digital Ultrasonography
  • Digital Radiography
  • In-house MRI
  • In-house CT scanner (2014)
  • High end monitoring, continuous or intermittent including ECG and direct and indirect blood pressure monitoring, pulse oximetry, CO2 monitoring

  • Two full ORs for emergency surgeries
  • Minimally invasive procedures: endoscopy, rhinoscopy, bronchoscopy, laparoscopy

  • Complete nutritional support oral, nasal, PEG tube or IV.

What is an emergency? If it is an emergency to you, it is one to us

  • Traumatic injuries-fractures, bites, burns, lacerations
  • Automobile accidents
  • Wounds, bleeding
  • Known or suspected ingestion of a foreign object or unknown substance
  • Respiratory emergencies, choking, difficulty breathing
  • Vomiting, diarrhea
  • Difficulty urinating or defecating
  • Shock, loss of consciousness
  • Dizziness, staggering, tremors, inability to move, sudden weakness, unusual or erratic behavior
  • Signs of extreme pain, such as whining or shaking indicating a problem
  • Seizures
  • Paralysis
  • Straining to urinate (especially a male cat)
  • Toxin reactions, poison ingestion, snake and insect bites
  • Labor that does not progress and delivery problems
  • Blood in urine or feces or vomiting blood
  • Swollen, hard, painful abdomen
  • Heatstroke
